Biography

Carey Coleman's working life has largely unfolded on the air, first delivering television weather reports and later talking politics with Northeast Ohio radio listeners.1 His broadcasting career has included national, statewide and local television outlets as well as WNIR radio.1 He and his family live in Northeast Ohio.1

Coleman is running for Congress after decades in broadcasting.2 At an October Akron Press Club appearance, he described a regional agenda that included additional routes at Akron-Canton Airport and incentives to use polymers in road surfaces that could better withstand freezing and thawing.2

His campaign calls for restraining federal spending, expanding domestic energy production and reducing regulatory burdens on smaller employers.3 He supports apprenticeship programs and training connected to local employers' needs, alongside efforts to bring manufacturing and supply chains back to the United States.3 He also favors more resources for police recruitment and training, addiction recovery and mental health programs.3

On infrastructure, Coleman proposes faster permitting, clearer oversight and repairing existing roads, bridges and other facilities.3 He has also said tariffs require care because they can both support American employment and hurt trade with neighboring countries.2 He faces Democratic Representative Emilia Sykes and nonparty candidate Sandeep Dixit in November.4
