Biography
Casey Askar is a married father of seven whose early jobs included working at McDonald's and mopping floors at CVS.1 His family came to the United States from Iraq when he was a child, fleeing religious persecution, and he attended public schools before entering the military and business.21
Military personnel records obtained by Florida Politics document Marine Reserve service from December 1987 to November 1988, followed by active duty through August 1992.3 Those records place his service at Camp Pendleton, California, and record infantry training, a National Defense Service Medal and a sharpshooter badge.3 He previously sought a House seat in Florida's 19th District in 2020.4
Askar's business career includes restaurant franchising and commercial real estate through the Askar Family Office.4 In 2020, QSR reported that his Southeast Enterprise Holdings had purchased 47 Dunkin' locations in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach markets.5 He described that purchase as part of a succession plan as his children entered the family business.5
For Congress, Askar promises lower taxes, fewer business regulations, expanded domestic energy production and stronger immigration enforcement, aligning himself with Donald Trump's agenda.1 He also supports banning congressional stock trading and giving parents greater control over schooling.1 He won the Republican primary in August and faces Democrat Pia Dandiya on November 3 for the newly configured district's open seat.6
