Claire Reynolds

Claire Reynolds is a Cubs fan with a firm opinion about Chicago hot dogs: hold the ketchup.¹ She moved to Texas in 2007, met her husband there and raised her children; her family visits Big Bend National Park several times a year.¹ She says the redraw placed her Austin home in District 11, which reaches west through San Angelo and Midland to Odessa.¹

Born in Indiana and raised in central Illinois, Reynolds earned her journalism degree at Northwestern University’s Medill School and worked as a journalist.¹² She later earned a law degree at the University of San Diego and passed the California bar before making her home in Austin.³

Her legal career includes about 12 years in the State Bar of Texas’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, which deals with lawyer misconduct.³ In a newspaper interview, she said she still uses lessons from an undergraduate writing class she once disliked when explaining complicated legal issues.²

Reynolds advocates banning stock trading by members of Congress and reversing Trump administration policies on tariffs, healthcare, immigration and scientific research.² Her campaign also emphasizes constitutional limits on presidential power and civil rights protections for immigrants, LGBTQ people and communities of color.³ Her Republican opponent is August Pfluger.⁴
