Biography
Gary Grossi grew up in Cambridge's Corcoran Park public housing and managed restaurants in Harvard Square before becoming a nurse.1 He graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1977.1 He also worked in mental health care at Metropolitan State Hospital.1 A married father of two, he says he worked multiple jobs to support his family.1
After tumor surgery in 1982 and a long recovery, Grossi returned to school and earned a nursing degree at UMass Boston.1 He spent 29 years in the Army and Army Reserve and retired as a colonel.1 His military biography lists a 2006 to 2007 deployment with the 399th Combat Support Hospital to Mosul and Al Asad, Iraq.1
His civilian nursing career included psychiatric work at the West Palm Beach VA and outpatient addiction and psychiatric care at Bedford VA Hospital from 2000 to 2022.1 He is also vice chair of the Acton Republican Town Committee.1
Grossi proposes reducing housing regulations, streamlining health care administration, expanding community mental health and addiction services and supporting small businesses through economic opportunity zones.2 He also supports congressional term limits, audits at the end of officials' service, gun rights and partnerships between police and communities.2 He faces Democratic incumbent Lori Trahan.3
