Joseph Chou

Joseph Chou's childhood jobs included selling egg rolls on Riverside Drive and delivering newspapers on morning and afternoon routes.¹ Born in Japan, he spent years living with his grandmother in Taiwan before coming to the United States in 1974.¹ He describes helping his mother support a household of five children.¹

His working life took him into limousine and car service work, followed by auto repair.¹ With support from his wife, he opened his own repair business in 1990 and says he continues to operate it.¹ He presents those decades serving customers from many different backgrounds as a central part of his experience in Queens.¹

Chou is the Republican candidate for the 6th District.² His platform connects economic policy with biblical ideas about managing resources carefully, and calls for a tax approach that eases pressure on working families and small businesses.³ He also wants changes to student loan interest rates that make higher education more affordable.³

On immigration, Chou supports secure borders and cooperation among local, state and federal agencies focused on serious criminal threats.³ He favors parental involvement in children's education and health decisions, better health care access and affordable child care.³ His education platform includes public, private and alternative options, with vocational training, arts and sciences in public schools.³
