Juan Ciscomani

Ciscomani moved from Mexico to Tucson at five, where his father drove a bus.

Biography

Juan Ciscomani coaches flag football for fifth and sixth graders.1 He and his wife, Laura, live in Tucson with six children.1 His family came to the United States from Mexico when he was a boy, and his father worked as a bus driver in Tucson.1

Ciscomani worked maintenance and service jobs while studying at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college.2 He later worked at the university and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce before becoming an adviser to Governor Doug Ducey and vice chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission.1 Voters elected him to Congress in 2022.1

In Congress, he supported the Republican tax and spending legislation enacted in July 2025, including its changes to Medicaid.34 He had earlier joined Republican colleagues warning against damaging hospital funding, but ultimately backed the final bill.4 He argues that eligibility checks and work requirements protect assistance programs from fraud, a position Mendoza disputes.5

For his next term, Ciscomani advocates tighter federal spending and opposes tax increases as responses to rising living costs.5 He also supports stronger border enforcement and cooperation between federal agencies and local law enforcement.6 His bid for a third term comes as voters weigh those priorities against concerns over insurance coverage and the future of Southern Arizona's hospitals.4
