Biography
Kelley Dennison grew up in a family where political conversations were encouraged and developed an interest in civics and history in high school.1 A massage therapist from Estes Park, she has described rising living costs and difficulty imagining an affordable future in Colorado as reasons for becoming politically involved.1
Her early political work included serving on a campaign staff before seeking office herself, and she argues that more people from her generation should participate in politics.1 The introduction to a July interview described her as a young Republican from a Democratic family and a business owner concerned with affordability and energy stability.2
Dennison proposes increasing the supply of affordable homes, reducing development barriers and limiting institutional investors' ability to price out first time buyers.3 She also emphasizes watershed conservation, responsible public land use, outdoor recreation businesses and gun rights as parts of her platform.3
She supports enforcing immigration laws while treating migrants humanely and making legal immigration faster and more efficient, and says she would work across party lines.1 Dennison faces Democratic incumbent Joe Neguse in the Second District, offering a different political direction while making younger residents' ability to remain in Colorado a central campaign argument.1
