Martin Zamora

Biography

Martin Zamora was born on a farm near Clovis, in a family whose eastern New Mexico farming and ranching roots predate statehood.1 He and his wife, Debbie, live in Clovis and have two daughters, both registered nurses, and six grandchildren.1

Zamora's working life has included cattle and horse trading, fertilizer, steel, trucking, agriculture and property investment.1 He and his wife have owned farmland in Curry County and a ranch spanning Torrance and Socorro counties, experience he places at the center of his argument for representing rural communities and their economic needs.1

He has served in the New Mexico House since 2019, representing District 63, which includes several eastern counties.2 His current committee work includes agriculture, acequias and water resources, as well as government, elections and Indian affairs, bringing land and water policy into his legislative responsibilities.1

Zamora's congressional priorities include protecting agricultural livelihoods and water rights, expanding rural employment and taking stronger action against crime and drug trafficking.1 He is challenging Democratic incumbent Teresa Leger Fernández in the Third District, offering voters a farmer's and state legislator's approach to a seat whose federal work includes rural services, housing and tribal water issues.2
