Biography

Raymond McKay is a father and stepfather of four, a grandfather of thirteen who also cares for two Havanese dogs.1 Born and raised in Providence, he now lives in Warwick.2 He graduated from Hope High School after also attending St. Raphael Academy.1

McKay served in the Army from 1981 to 1992, working on electronics maintenance for the Pershing nuclear missile system in West Germany.1 His training included computer programming at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and he left the service as a sergeant.1 His military record includes the Army Commendation Medal and three Army Achievement Medals.1

He spent 26 years as Warwick's network and telecommunications manager and administrator before retiring.3 Outside that work, he led the Rhode Island Republican Assembly from 2005 to 2014 and helped organize campaigns and candidate recruitment.1 His earlier election bids include state Senate in 1998 and U.S. Senate campaigns in 2014 and 2024.2

His campaign promises to work across party lines to stabilize Social Security within two years, a goal he presents as protecting seniors' future checks.3 His platform also supports nuclear power, fossil fuels and renewable energy, alongside reductions in federal spending.4 He challenges Democratic Senator Jack Reed on November 3, seeking to replace an incumbent first elected in 1996.25
