Ron Estes

Ron Estes grew up on his family's Kansas farm and now lives in Wichita with his wife, Susan; they have three children.¹ Susan also serves in elected office, representing Sedgwick County's 87th District in the Kansas House.² Ron earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and an MBA at Tennessee Tech University.³

Before entering public office, he worked in consulting and management across aerospace, energy and manufacturing.¹ His jobs included program management at Koch Oil and Koch Refined Products and project management at Bombardier Learjet.³ He served as Sedgwick County treasurer from 2005 to 2011 and Kansas state treasurer from 2011 to 2017.⁴

Estes entered Congress through the 2017 special election following Mike Pompeo's departure.⁴ He serves on Ways and Means and Budget, as well as the Joint Economic Committee.¹ He chairs the Social Security Subcommittee and jointly leads the House Aerospace Caucus.¹ His office also helps constituents resolve problems involving agencies such as the VA, IRS and Social Security Administration.¹

He supports a balanced budget amendment and has proposed federal spending cuts while protecting military funding.⁵ Estes and Democrat John Larson worked on legislation allowing immediate deductions for domestic research costs.⁶ The 2025 tax law restored that treatment for domestic research and experimental spending.⁷
