Shane Lewis

Shane Lewis says his imperfect Spanish is a regular source of laughter at family gatherings with his Guatemalan wife's relatives.¹ San Jose has been his home for nearly three decades, and he and his wife have three children still at home.¹ His oldest son serves in the Air Force.¹

Lewis joined the Marines shortly after high school, attending boot camp at Parris Island.¹ His campaign biography describes two meritorious promotions and qualification as a paratrooper at Fort Benning, where he trained alongside members of other military units.¹

After active duty, he served as a church worship leader and elder and ran a business teaching singing, guitar and piano to adults and children.¹ He now works as an electrical test engineer in medical device research and development.¹ His earlier industry work included positions with Thoratec, St. Jude Medical and Abbott.¹

Lewis proposes tying Title I education aid to academic progress, strengthening civics and financial literacy classes, and expanding the agricultural worker visa program.² He also advocates a low flat tax on wages and counting only citizens when allocating House seats.² He faces Democratic incumbent Zoe Lofgren in November's election for the district.³
