Adam Bauman

Bauman's working life has involved both Border Patrol agents and drug detection dogs.

Biography

Adam Bauman came to El Paso in 2001 on a Border Patrol assignment; his work today includes running a canine drug detection business.1 He is a Navy veteran and retired Border Patrol agent, with a career that included the agency’s tactical unit, BORTAC.23

Bauman cites his BORTAC experience when explaining his focus on border security, including preventing criminals and narcotics from entering the country.3 His economic agenda includes assistance and resources for El Paso’s small businesses, along with working with local officials to reduce property taxes.3

On retirement, he supports legislation to preserve Social Security while opposing an increase in the age at which people can receive benefits.3 On healthcare, he wants to reduce insurance premiums without federal subsidies, arguing that the current distribution of insurance costs between groups of customers needs to change.3

He also opposes transgender women competing in women’s sports and using women’s restrooms.3 The district he seeks to represent includes Fort Bliss and most of El Paso County in Texas.2 Bauman is the Republican nominee facing Democratic incumbent Veronica Escobar in November.4 In October television interviews, the candidates addressed border security, immigration, data center development, commerce across the border and affordability, among the issues before El Paso voters.4
