Amanda Pusczek

Pusczek trained as a nurse at Calhoun Community College and found her calling in psychiatric care.

Biography

Amanda Pusczek lives in north Alabama with her husband, Trever, and three cats named Max, Mia and Flouf.1 She was born in Ferguson, Missouri, and moved to Alabama with her mother when she was six.1 She has also lived in Wiesbaden, Germany.1

Pusczek earned an associate degree in nursing at Calhoun Community College in 2014 and a nursing bachelor's degree from Western Governors University in 2022.2 Her work has included psychiatric care, hospitals, outpatient clinics, public schools and correctional facilities.1 During the pandemic, she traveled to New York City to care for patients while continuing her studies.1

She married Trever, her high school sweetheart, in 2022.1 Her campaign biography says seeing uncontested races on her 2024 ballot helped prompt her first run for office.1 She now brings that nursing background to a campaign focused on medical privacy, rural infrastructure and the costs families face when seeking care.1

Pusczek proposes a $15 federal minimum wage and stronger collective bargaining rights.2 Her healthcare proposals include loan forgiveness for doctors practicing in rural communities and treating emergency medical services as a public utility.2 She faces Republican Robert Aderholt, who has represented the district since 1997 and is campaigning on his seniority and economic development work.2

Record and controversies

Late report subsequently submitted

An October 25 report described an FEC warning after Pusczek's campaign missed a quarterly reporting deadline.3 The outlet said the campaign submitted records after its inquiry and did not provide a response for the article.3 The committee's public FEC summary includes financial activity through October 14, 2026.4 The cited notice warned of possible penalties; it was not an announced final fine.3
