Becky Stille

Stille started working at 12, detasseling corn at a seed farm in Shelton.

Biography

Becky Stille's first job was detasseling corn at 12 on a seed farm in Shelton, Nebraska.1 Today, she is a mother of four and grandmother of five, married for nearly 30 years to a registered Republican.1 A lifelong resident of the Third District, she describes herself as a moderate Democrat interested in working across party lines.1

Stille became a mother as a teenager and later earned a degree in accounting.2 Her career included 20 years in agriculture, with jobs as an accounting clerk, laboratory technician, quality manager and production supervisor.2 She helped develop products made from soy and obtained certifications in rail operations, maintenance and training.2

She has also owned a small business and says healthcare, farm markets and livable wages are the concerns she hears most from people in the district.1 Her platform calls for funding rural hospitals, protecting Affordable Care Act coverage and expanding mental healthcare.3 She supports prevailing wage requirements, job training for younger workers and veterans, and reproductive decisions made by patients and their doctors.3

Stille is challenging Republican incumbent Adrian Smith in a five candidate field.4 She supports raising the federal minimum wage and exempting the first $45,000 of working families' earned income from tax.1 She also favors protecting Social Security, Medicare and food assistance while directing tax benefits toward working households.3
