Biography

Blake Moore grew up in Ogden playing quarterback and earned the Wendy's National High School Heisman for athletics, academics and citizenship.1 He and his wife Jane have four sons, and his official biography calls Little League coach his most prized title.1

Moore graduated from the University of Utah and earned a public policy and administration master's at Northwestern.1 He also served a church mission in Seoul, South Korea.1 Before Congress, he worked in the State Department's Foreign Service, overseas business development and consulting at Cicero Group, including social impact and strategy projects.1

He entered Congress in 2021 and now serves on Ways and Means and Budget.1 Elected Republican Conference vice chairman in 2023, he also works on defense issues affecting Hill Air Force Base.1 His legislative record includes laws addressing saline lake ecosystems, cybercrime statistics and digital access to public lands information.1

Moore defends tariffs as helping some American manufacturers, while acknowledging their pain, and backs federal caps on graduate student borrowing.2 He also advocates federal debt reduction and changes to Congress's budgeting process.1 He currently represents Utah's First District, but is running against Democrat Peter Crosby in the redrawn Second District this November.13

Historical late stock disclosure

Moore acknowledged paying a late filing fee in 2021 after stock trades were not reported on time. His office said advisers had been assigned compliance work after his retirement holdings moved to a manager, and that he had established a process to meet future deadlines.4 This concerns disclosure compliance.
