Caleb Walker

Caleb Walker has served both as an Army sergeant first class and as a college student body president.¹ He grew up in Wisner, in Franklin Parish, and moved to Lafayette in 2020, after military service that included a deployment to Afghanistan and time living in Alaska.¹

Walker's campaign describes a decade in uniform, leading teams and managing resources across several assignments.¹ Afterward, he worked as a department manager at Sam's Club and as a community coordinator in Lafayette.¹ He enrolled at South Louisiana Community College to study political science and was elected student body president; his campaign identifies that degree as still in progress.¹

He also holds the community and technical college student seat on Louisiana's Task Force on Career Alignment.² Created in 2025, the panel is developing recommendations for career counseling at public colleges and retaining graduates in Louisiana, with a final report due in January 2027.²

Walker faces Republicans Clay Higgins and Kate Cotten, Democrats John Day and Priscilla Gonzalez, and Tia LeBrun.³ LeBrun is listed with no party affiliation.⁴ His proposals include exempting the first $50,000 of educators' salaries from federal income tax, student loan forgiveness for health care workers and disaster hazard pay for essential workers.⁵ He supports coastal protection and carbon capture projects he considers responsible, alongside reducing household costs.⁵
