Biography
Dan Meuser played college football at Maritime College; his son later played running back at Bucknell.1 His father was a New York City police detective, and his mother returned to paid work after raising the children.2 He and his wife, Shelley, raised three children in northeastern Pennsylvania.2
He attended Maritime College before transferring to Cornell on a Navy ROTC scholarship.2 In 1988, he joined Pride Mobility Products as a regional manager, eventually becoming president of Pride USA in 2001 and leaving that position in 2008.3 The family business began making lift chairs in Pittston and expanded into scooters and power wheelchairs.4
Meuser served as Pennsylvania's secretary of revenue from 2011 to 2015, before entering Congress in 2019.5 Now in his fourth term, he chairs Financial Services' Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and also serves on Small Business.5 He is also a cochair of the Congressional Coal Caucus.5
His campaign supports expanding Pennsylvania natural gas production, shortening energy permitting delays and strengthening the electricity grid.6 He also favors supplying American energy to allies and reducing dependence on hostile regimes.6 He also advocates tax relief for families and small businesses, fewer regulations and expanded access to business capital.7 Democrat Rachel Wallace is challenging him for the district's House seat in November.8
Record and controversies
2024 overseas ballot lawsuit
These six representatives joined a September 2024 lawsuit seeking additional eligibility checks and segregation of Pennsylvania military and overseas ballots before counting.9 Their lawyers later narrowed the requested relief to a prospective declaration.9 On October 29, the district court dismissed the case without further leave to amend, citing delay, lack of standing, missing necessary parties and no viable cause of action.9 Their attorney said most applications likely came from real voters providing required identification, but argued the state should verify eligibility and comply with the law.10
Late stock disclosures
An August 13, 2025 filing disclosed two sales of his wife's Nvidia shares made in August and October 2024.11 NOTUS reported the disclosures were late; Meuser blamed his brokerage, denied benefiting from the error and said he corrected it promptly after learning of it and notified the Ethics Committee.12
