Diamant Hysenaj describes a childhood in which 36 members of his extended family shared three farm homes in Kosovo.¹ His parents worked in factories, and the family moved to the Bronx in 1991, when he was nine.¹ By 11, he was delivering newspapers, shoveling snow and learning construction alongside his father.¹

His campaign biography lists an associate's degree and the launch of his first construction company in 2005.¹ It says that company closed during the 2008 financial crisis, after which he worked in sales during the day, drove at night and took construction jobs on weekends.¹ He recalls keeping suits and work boots in his car between jobs.¹

Housing affordability is a central campaign theme, alongside support for small businesses, safer streets and cleaner neighborhoods.² On immigration, he favors secure borders and faster citizenship for people who follow the law.² He also calls for reducing healthcare costs by tackling waste and fraud.² He challenges Democratic incumbent Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for the 14th District seat.³
