Biography
Eric Flores returned to the Rio Grande Valley with his wife, Victoria, after law school, and they are now parents of two children.1 He grew up in the Valley and joined the Texas Army National Guard while attending the University of Texas at Austin through its Simultaneous Membership Program.1
He became an infantry officer and served during Operation Guardian Support along the southern border, later completing law school at Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law.1 His legal work included service as Alton's city attorney and municipal judge before he joined the federal prosecutor's office in McAllen in 2021.2
As an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of Texas until January 2025, he prosecuted transnational human smuggling cases.2 He subsequently became a partner at O'Hanlon, Demerath & Castillo, where his campaign describes a litigation practice representing municipalities and school districts.1
His congressional agenda emphasizes border security, law enforcement, veterans, local businesses, water resources and protecting seniors' benefits.3 He also calls for lowering living costs and expanding American energy independence.3 In an October interview, he supported a work visa program to address local labor shortages and said immigration enforcement should prioritize criminals.4 He faces Democratic incumbent Vicente Gonzalez, Green candidate Eddie Espinoza and Libertarian Chris Royal in the 34th District, placing South Texas trade, economic development and border policy before voters.53
