Eric Pratt

Eric Pratt's family moved to Prior Lake in 1978.¹ His father worked in real estate, and his mother spent more than twenty five years teaching in Shakopee.² He and his wife, Tina, have two children.²

After Prior Lake High School, Pratt attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where he played college football and earned an economics degree.² He later earned an MBA in business administration and finance at the University of St. Thomas.¹ His banking and business career has included Target and U.S. Bank, with work in risk management and fraud prevention.³

Pratt served on the Prior Lake and Savage school board from 2000 to 2012, including as chairman and treasurer.¹ He entered the Minnesota Senate in 2013 and has chaired its jobs and economic growth finance and policy committee.¹ His congressional proposals include an independent Office of Program Integrity using audits and data analysis to identify fraud and weak financial controls.³

He supports ending federal income tax on Social Security benefits and allowing younger workers to opt out of the program.³ He says the full retirement age may need to rise gradually for younger generations.³ He also proposes a federal child tax credit of up to $3,000 per child and streamlined federal permitting to reduce housing construction costs.³
