Biography
Eunice Lehmacher's time away from work includes gardening, singing, hiking, board games and Star Trek.1 She and her husband moved to Clemson in 2002 and raised two sons there.1 Her first job at 16 was at Long John Silver's, where she plated and sold food and could walk to work.1
Born in Lexington, Missouri, Lehmacher grew up in North Carolina and Tennessee before earning a bachelor's degree at Concordia University in 1985 and a master's at Catholic University of America in 1996.1 Her working life began in high school classrooms teaching math and physics, followed by library work and church education before she trained in social work.2
Her professional experience includes medical social work and psychotherapy at Oconee Memorial Hospital, Clemson University and Hospice of the Foothills, along with owning a counseling practice in Seneca.1 In her October interview, she described leading a dementia support group and obtaining grant funding for counseling for caregivers.2
Lehmacher advocates restoring Medicaid and Affordable Care Act funding, strengthening rural medical services and protecting Social Security and Medicare.2 She also wants renewed support for renewable energy and requirements that data center developers help cover their own power infrastructure rather than shifting costs to other customers.2 She faces Republican Sheri Biggs and Libertarian Brian Corriea.3
