Biography

Gordon Heslop writes that he fulfilled a longstanding wish by visiting Scotland in 2024, a trip he recalls when explaining his support for Ukraine.1 The retired accounting educator is married and has adult children, and describes more than thirty years of university teaching.2

His academic career included Northwestern State University of Louisiana and the institution now called East Texas A&M University.1 Its university catalog lists his MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi and doctorate in business administration from Mississippi State University.3 Historical teaching schedules also document his work teaching Principles of Accounting II.4

Heslop says he voted for Donald Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024, and now campaigns as a Republican critic of the president's tariffs, deficits and foreign policy.1 He names Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill among the leaders he admires.1 His economic proposals include removing the earnings cap for Social Security payroll taxes and strengthening rural health services and trades training.1

He faces fellow Republicans Mike Johnson and Mike Nichols and Democrats Conrad Cable and Matt Gromlich.5 His program calls for abolishing tariffs and expanding preventive health screening.1 He proposes a $50,000 national minimum salary for law enforcement officers, adjusted annually for inflation.1 He advocates a higher minimum wage, congressional term limits and a freeze on congressional salaries, alongside withholding lawmakers' pay during government shutdowns.1
