Biography

Gregg Hull and his wife, Carrie, raised five children in New Mexico, all of whom attended local public schools, and now have nine grandchildren.1 Away from elected office, his community roles have included serving as a finance counselor and Sunday school teacher at Mesa Baptist Church.2

Before becoming mayor, Hull worked in commercial crating and motorhome resale businesses.3 He led Certified Packing and Crating, a logistics and packaging company serving the Albuquerque area, and sold his interests in 2012.4 He then won election as Rio Rancho’s mayor in 2014, followed by reelections in 2018 and 2022.1

Hull served twelve years as mayor before leaving the office in 2026 to pursue the governorship.5 His municipal work also included chairing the New Mexico Mayors Caucus and the Mid Region Council of Governments, and serving as president of the New Mexico Municipal League.2 His campaign has called for greater investment in roads and the health care workforce, alongside changes to bail and juvenile justice laws.3

Against Democrat Deb Haaland, Hull proposes requiring wealthier families to contribute to child care costs and expanding investment in local water systems.5 Their disagreement over universal child care would shape whether New Mexico maintains free access regardless of income or introduces the copayments he advocates.5
