Jackie Auringer

Auringer grew up in Kingston and works in her family's crane and construction business, handling project management and accounting.

Biography

Jackie Auringer grew up in Kingston, in a family that operates crane and construction companies in the Hudson Valley.1 Her own roles include project manager and managerial accountant, work she described in a May column about running for Congress.2 She identified housing, schools and infrastructure as projects undertaken by her family's businesses.2 She writes that those businesses have operated locally for more than two decades.2

In that column, Auringer described belonging to a multiethnic family, organizing with conservatives in Palm Beach and attending a Black Lives Matter demonstration.2 She also wrote about younger adults struggling to remain in the communities where they grew up.2 In her October News12 interview, she described difficulty paying rent and being unable to build a home herself.1

Auringer comes to the race without previous service in elected office.1 Her published agenda calls for easing regulations that raise housing costs, treating mental health as an urgent public issue and holding social media companies accountable for harms they cause.2

She is the Republican challenger to Democratic incumbent Pat Ryan in the November election.1 Auringer describes herself as fiscally conservative and socially moderate, opposes AI data centers near Hudson Valley communities and says she would oppose a federal abortion ban, leaving that authority to the states.1
