Jeff Frese

Frese started Fat Snax in his own kitchen, built it into a national snack brand and sold it.

Biography

Jeff Frese started Fat Snax in his kitchen, experimenting with cookie recipes after struggling to find sweets that fit his low carbohydrate diet.1 The Brooklyn company launched online in 2017 and reached a deal putting its cookies in 740 Vitamin Shoppe stores the following year.1

By 2020, Fat Snax products were sold in about 4,000 stores, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger and Wegmans.2 Frese says he later sold the brand and now runs a skincare company.3 His earlier work included product leadership at CNN, Nickelodeon and MTV.3

He earned a bachelor's degree in economics at SUNY Cortland and lives in Moraga.3 He describes himself as a husband, father of three daughters, coach and 49ers fan.3 His first business, he recalls, was selling plants door to door at eight, after digging them up in the woods near his home.3

Frese proposes eight year congressional term limits, a stock trading ban for members and withholding lawmakers' pay when Congress has not passed a budget.4 His affordability agenda includes easing construction rules and restricting Wall Street purchases of single family homes.4 He opposes Social Security benefit cuts and a higher retirement age, while proposing investing part of the trust fund in the S&P 500.4 He challenges Democratic incumbent Mark DeSaulnier in November's race for California's 10th District.3
