Jerry Carl says much of his time away from politics involves grandchildren, the family farm and being outdoors.12 He and his wife, Tina, have two sons and a daughter whose careers have included the Marines, insurance and teaching.1 He was born in Mobile and began his first company when he was 25.1

His businesses have ranged from real estate and timber to healthcare and manufacturing church furniture.1 In an interview with Alabama's medical association, he described years working with home healthcare equipment and specialty pharmacies.2 He said seeing his Marine son's difficulties obtaining veterans healthcare helped prompt his first congressional campaign.2

Carl served on the Mobile County Commission from 2012 to 2020 and represented the 1st District in Congress from 2021 to 2025.3 He is seeking to return to Washington after a term out of office.3 His campaign presents that earlier federal and local experience as the basis for another term.1

Carl supports a constitutional balanced budget requirement, spending reductions and additional border enforcement.4 He also opposes abortion funding, supports gun ownership rights and calls for better access to veterans care.4 He faces Democrat Clyde Jones Jr., who emphasizes restoring health insurance assistance, in the redrawn district's open seat contest.3
