John Vincent

Vincent grew up with an educator father who also worked nights as a restaurant maître d' to help pay for his children's education.

Biography

John Vincent's father worked in education, eventually becoming an assistant superintendent, and took a second job as a restaurant maitre d' to help pay for his children's education.1 Vincent and his wife, Deb, enjoy time at the beach.1

A Long Island native, Vincent spent 20 years in the Navy and retired in 2003 as a command master chief, a senior enlisted leadership position.2 Much of his service involved submarines, and his campaign biography describes responsibilities for service members' welfare, training and morale.1 His service included an assignment at the former Charleston Navy base from 1983 to 1992.2

After the Navy, he worked in leadership development at Gallup and established a consulting business serving organizations including local governments, police and fire departments and nonprofits.1 He and Deb coauthored a 2017 leadership book drawing on submarine experience to discuss diversity and inclusion.2 His South Carolina work has also included sales management at Florence television station WBTW.2

Vincent proposes ending global tariffs and seeking congressional action to end the war in Iran.3 He also favors removing the Social Security taxable income cap and developing an optional health insurance plan that would coexist with private coverage.3 His veterans agenda includes improved VA health care, housing, education and employment benefits.4 He faces Republican Russell Fry.5
