Biography
Julie Fedorchak grew up the youngest of eight children, spending summers on her family's farm near Belden.1 She and her husband, Mike, live in Mandan and have three children.1 Her biography lists dinner and game nights, watching sports and competing at almost anything among the family's favorite pastimes.1
A University of North Dakota graduate, Fedorchak worked as communications director for Governor Ed Schafer before running her own communications and marketing business for a decade.1 During those years, she wrote and published three books with her mother and wrote a Bismarck Tribune column.1 She later served as Senator John Hoeven's state director.2
Before entering Congress in 2025, Fedorchak spent twelve years on North Dakota's Public Service Commission.23 She also served as president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, completing that term in 2024.2 She serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.2 In June 2025, she introduced the Baseload Reliability Protection Act, a proposal to restrict retirement of baseload power plants in regions facing electricity supply shortfalls.4
She seeks a second term against Democrat Trygve Hammer and independents Helene Neville and Charles Tuttle.5 Her healthcare ideas include expanding health savings accounts and directing federal insurance subsidies to Americans rather than insurers.6 She defends tariffs as negotiating tools while urging faster resolution of trade issues with Canada.6
