Burge was 17 when he persuaded his mother to take him to the Marines' recruiting office.
Biography
Kevin Burge grew up in a trailer outside Los Alamos, New Mexico, and says he persuaded his mother to take him to a Marine recruiting office when he was 17.1 He and his wife, Jessy, an immigrant from Honduras who became a U.S. citizen and Texas National Guard officer, have a son and live in North Richland Hills.1
His campaign account describes two Iraq deployments, first handling logistics and later coordinating supply transfers associated with closing Camp Fallujah.1 He subsequently worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency and deployed to Kabul, where he says he led a security team transporting intelligence analysts.1
Burge earned a master's degree from North Carolina State University and continued working in the intelligence community.1 His later work included serving as a technical adviser supporting the White House Situation Room during the Biden administration.2 His campaign describes that assignment as part of a renovation project.1
He advocates universal health coverage while retaining private insurance, stronger Affordable Care Act assistance, Medicaid expansion and support for rural hospitals.3 He also proposes restrictions on congressional stock trading, stronger environmental requirements for data centers, and expanded legal immigration pathways alongside border security and faster asylum processing.3 The Democrat challenges Republican incumbent Beth Van Duyne.2
