Kristi Burke

Kristi Burke married Dave at Wayah Bald Tower on the Appalachian Trail in 2019, then celebrated at a diner in Franklin.¹ They met when she was 19, and their life together has included rescuing cats and hiking East Tennessee with her dog, River.¹

Burke's working life has included the beauty industry, a mural business and a YouTube platform devoted to critical thinking.¹ Her campaign biography describes dozens of mural installations across Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee, including projects inside two Florida city halls.¹ Her portfolio includes commercial projects and brand campaigns.¹ Dave has helped install the murals as well as supporting her campaign.¹

She favors Medicare for All, proposing universal health coverage that would not depend on employment or income, with everyone covered through a single public insurance system.² She also supports school meals for all students, tuition free community college and federal funding for schools serving low income children and students with disabilities.²

Burke calls for tax relief for working families, higher taxes on substantial wealth and closing corporate tax loopholes.² She supports abortion and contraception access and protections for public lands, and she advocates keeping church and state separate.² Republican incumbent Diana Harshbarger and five independent candidates are also on the First District ballot.³
