Laurel Lee

Laurel Lee grew up in a military family, the daughter of an Air Force general.¹ She and her husband, Tom, have three children and live in eastern Hillsborough County.¹ Before politics, her career included prosecuting federal crimes and serving as a judge in the county where she now lives.²

Lee earned her bachelor's and law degrees at the University of Florida.² She worked as a federal judicial law clerk and in private practice before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney in Florida's Middle District.² Her prosecution work included white collar crime, child exploitation and violent crime cases.¹

She served as a Hillsborough County circuit judge from 2013 to 2019 and as Florida's secretary of state from 2019 to 2022.² Elected to Congress in 2022, she took office in January 2023.² Her current committee assignments include Energy and Commerce, Judiciary and House Administration.¹

Lee's congressional work includes supporting the REINS Act, which would expand congressional oversight of major federal regulations.¹ Her current campaign emphasizes law enforcement resources, public safety and support for first responders.³ She has also promoted the proposed Prosecutors Need to Prosecute Act as part of that agenda.³ In November, she faces Democrat Robert People in Florida's 15th Congressional District.³
