Lauren Boebert

Boebert was raising four sons and running a restaurant in Rifle before her first congressional campaign.

Biography

Lauren Boebert was raising four sons and running Shooters Grill in Rifle before her first campaign for Congress.12 The restaurant, where employees openly carried firearms, became closely associated with the gun rights advocacy that remains part of her political identity.2

Her earlier work also included the natural gas industry, with jobs as a product technician, geographic information systems technician and pipeline integrity coordinator.2 Outside paid employment, her congressional biography describes church involvement and volunteer work helping women at the local jail prepare to return to their communities.2

First elected in 2020, Boebert represented western Colorado before winning the Fourth District seat in 2024.34 She serves on the Natural Resources and Oversight committees, is vice chair of the Natural Resources oversight subcommittee and helps lead the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus.2

Boebert emphasizes energy production, agriculture, water and multiple uses of public lands through her work in the Congressional Western Caucus.2 She also supports restrictions on abortion funding and legislation recognizing life at conception, positions she discusses in connection with her experience as a mother.1 She faces Democratic retired Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher in the Fourth District, where rural services and the federal government's role are prominent campaign issues.4

Record and controversies

Theater removal and corrected denial

In September 2023, Boebert apologized after being removed from a Denver performance of Beetlejuice for disruptive behavior. Her campaign had initially denied she vaped. Surveillance footage showed vaping, and she said she had not remembered it when first describing the night to her team. She expressed regret and denied intending to mislead.5

Disputed workplace complaint

Colorado Politics reported in September 2026 that PAC activist David Wheeler asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate alleged staff relationships and a payment to suppress disclosure.6 Boebert denied any improper staff relationship, and two former employees also denied the allegations.6 She disputed the filing's procedural qualification; Wheeler acknowledged he was still seeking House member backing.6

CBS reported a temporary protection order against Wheeler.7 Wheeler had denied stalking and said he was contesting the order in an October 3 account.8 This review did not verify a later final protection order or a committee investigation or finding.
