Biography

Lauren Reinhold came to Kansas in 1993 to study law at the University of Kansas and raised her family in Lawrence.1.2 In an October 2026 Kansas Reflector podcast, her conversation about the campaign also included her fondness for green bean soup.3

Her legal career has included representing people with limited incomes in housing, consumer and family matters through legal aid organizations.2 She also practiced immigration law in a clinic and private practice, and helped people seeking disability benefits navigate the application process.2 She later worked as an investigator and election officer at the National Labor Relations Board.2

At the Social Security Administration, Reinhold held positions including attorney adviser and human resources specialist, and also served as a federal union officer.1 She accepted a buyout and left federal service in 2025, saying the administration's changes convinced her to seek office.1 This is her first campaign for elected office, and she is the Democratic nominee in Kansas's 1st District.1.4

Her platform emphasizes rural hospitals, agricultural producers, labor rights and stronger Social Security services.5 She supports investment in rural water systems, roads, bridges, hospitals and schools.6 On immigration, she favors border security alongside a path to citizenship for established community members and efforts to clear court backlogs.5
