Baisley's childhood followed his father's engineering work through Idaho, Alaska and Puerto Rico.

Biography

Mark Baisley’s father was an energy construction engineer whose work took the family through Idaho, Alaska and Puerto Rico.1 Born in Minnesota, Baisley moved to Colorado in 1989 for work with the company now known as Lockheed Martin.1 He married his high school sweetheart, Maryann, and has four children and grandchildren.2

He studied computer information systems and business administration at Columbia College, and his aerospace career included work with Martin Marietta, Hughes, Raytheon and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.3 He leads a software company developing interactive tools for visualizing complex systems.3 He also served as founding board president of STEM School and Academy in Highlands Ranch from 2008 to 2010.2

Baisley served in the state House from 2019 to 2023 before joining the state Senate.1 He was one of four lead sponsors of the 2024 law creating tax credits for Colorado’s quantum technology industry.4 The law includes credits for a shared facility and losses on loans to young quantum businesses.4 The credits depend on a qualifying federal grant to an entity in Colorado.4

Challenging Democratic Senator John Hickenlooper, Baisley proposes lower federal taxes, fewer regulations and increased energy production.56 He supports a national abortion ban and defends the 2025 Medicaid reductions.7 He backs Trump’s Iran war while opposing American ground troops.8 The ballot also includes Forward Party candidate Bob Chew.6
