Biography
Melissa Strange married her high school best friend, Andy, and the couple have two sons.1 She grew up in Villa Hills, attended Dixie Heights High School and now lives in Erlanger, keeping her family and working life in northern Kentucky.1
Strange earned an international studies degree at Northern Kentucky University, focusing on economics and political science, then completed an MBA at Thomas More while working full time.1 Her 27 years in the food industry began with a private flavor company that became part of a larger global business.1 She now works as a supply chain management director at Archer-Daniels-Midland in Erlanger and is making her first run for office.2
Her platform calls for protecting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, lowering prescription costs and expanding access to addiction treatment.3 She also supports universal preschool, expanded paid family leave and a caregivers tax credit.3 She backs right to repair protections for owners of farm and consumer equipment and opposes data center projects without community approval.3 A proposed national neonatal intensive care policy would protect workers from having to return to work while their babies remain critically ill.3
Strange faces Republican Ed Gallrein, Libertarian Jeremy Todd and independent write in candidate Peter Harmon Williams in the race to succeed Thomas Massie.4 She identifies affordability as her first priority, advocating a higher minimum wage and a ban on stock trading by government leaders.5
