Biography
Michael Cloud's life before Congress included a video production business and more than a decade directing media and communications at Faith Family Church.1 He and his wife, Rosel, have three children, and his hometown is Victoria.12
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cloud graduated from high school in Miamisburg, Ohio, and earned a bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University in 1997.3 His career combined communications and business ownership with local political organizing, including seven years as Victoria County's Republican chairman.1
He entered Congress through a June 2018 special election following Blake Farenthold's resignation.3 He now serves on Appropriations and Oversight, with assignments covering energy and water spending, financial services and general government, and Interior and environmental funding.2 His oversight subcommittees also cover government efficiency and military and foreign affairs.2
Cloud's campaign emphasizes border security, reducing federal spending and policies favoring small businesses.1 He also identifies Christian conservative and America First positions as central to his public work.1 In 2025, he introduced the Dismantle DEI Act, proposing permanent restrictions on federal diversity, equity and inclusion offices, programs and related spending.45 The Republican faces Democrat Tanya Lloyd in a rematch of their 2024 race, with Wayne Raasch certified as a declared write in candidate.67
