Mike Mazzei

Mazzei has spent much of his working life helping people plan what to do with their money.

Biography

Mike Mazzei and his wife, Noel, have five children, including triplets.1 Their oldest daughter, Maria, was adopted from Russia, and their family also includes a younger son, Jackson.1 The son of an Air Force officer, he attended three high schools as his family moved, later coming to Oklahoma to attend Oral Roberts University.2 He has described meeting Noel during those college years.2

His professional career has centered on financial planning and wealth management, including leading Trinity Strategic Wealth.3 He earned a George Mason bachelor’s degree and a master’s in personal financial planning from the College for Financial Planning.3 He also worked as an intern in the United States Senate before entering elected state politics.3

Mazzei served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2004 to 2016 and chaired its Finance Committee, then served as Governor Kevin Stitt’s budget secretary.3 His legislative work included a 2009 law removing revenue conditions that had prevented scheduled income tax reductions.4

Against Democrat Cyndi Munson, Mazzei proposes phasing out Oklahoma’s income tax and eliminating property taxes for seniors.4 His plan would reduce the income tax rate to 3% in its first year and eliminate it within six years.3 Their disagreement is over which taxes to cut and for whom: he favors further income tax reductions, while she emphasizes relief directed toward working families.4
