Biography
Nancy Lacore met her husband, Pat, after flight school; both were Navy helicopter pilots.1 They have six children, including a Marine, a police officer, two technology professionals and two nursing students.1 The couple now lives in Mount Pleasant after decades of military moves.1
Lacore attended the College of the Holy Cross on a ROTC scholarship and graduated in 1990 before her Navy commission.12 After her first decade on active duty, she joined the Reserve and worked remotely as a defense contractor for ten years, a job she says helped balance work and raising children.1 Her deployments included Afghanistan in 2011 and Djibouti in 2017.1
She rose to vice admiral and became chief of Navy Reserve in 2024.2 Removed from that post in August 2025, she subsequently retired after 35 years in the Navy.23 In 2014, she ran 160 miles over six days to honor servicewomen killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.4 She founded the nonprofit Valor Run, which operated for a decade before closing.1
Her campaign priorities include affordability, healthcare and protecting the Lowcountry's environment.5 She proposes barring private equity firms from buying homes and improving military pay, housing and affordable childcare.3 She faces Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt and Libertarian Bill Reeside.6
