Pam DeLancy
DeLancy began in the Army as an enlisted soldier and rose to colonel, building a career in military medicine and health readiness.
Biography
Pam DeLancy's healthcare experience includes being both a nurse and a patient: after retiring from the Army, she survived gallbladder cancer.1 She describes that experience, together with her nursing and military work, as part of her reason for seeking a seat in Congress.1
DeLancy enlisted in the Army in 1980, received her commission through the University of Houston ROTC program in 1987 and rose to colonel.2 Her assignments included Reserve medical programs at the Defense Department, clinical operations in the Army Reserve and brigade command at Fort Gillem.2 Her career included six years at the Pentagon developing medical readiness policy.1 She earned a master's in strategic studies at the Army War College.2
She also holds a nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and has worked in emergency, medical and surgical, and school nursing.3 Today, she serves on the Henry County Board of Health as a consumer and health services advocate.4
The Democrat faces Republican Houston Gaines in Georgia's 10th District.5 DeLancy supports broader access to healthcare, stronger mental health services and protections for veterans' benefits.6 Her platform also calls for immigration reform combining border security with a functional asylum process, and scrutiny of data centers' effects on water supplies and public health.6
