Randall Arrington

Arrington once worked from the flight decks of four different aircraft carriers as a Navy aviator.

Biography

Randall Arrington goes by Randy; he told WRNO listeners his mother called him Randall when he was in trouble.1 His father served aboard nuclear submarines and worked as an electrician at Hollywood General Studios.2 The retired naval aviator also turned to writing, publishing the aviation novel Kerosene Cowboys in 2009.3

Arrington earned a doctorate in political science in 1998 and later worked as a supervisory air interdiction agent with the Department of Homeland Security.3 His published résumé lists Navy service from 1976 through 1997 and the rank of commander.4 In his current candidate questionnaire, he describes flying from four Navy aircraft carriers, working in border interdiction and teaching university students.5

In the WRNO interview, he invoked Theodore Roosevelt's political arena metaphor to explain why he was running rather than criticizing from outside government.1 His public activities also include leadership in SAG-AFTRA, the performers union: members of its New Orleans local elected him to a local board seat and convention delegate position in 2025.6 His published candidate résumé also lists volunteering as a Meals on Wheels delivery driver.4

Arrington is a Republican running alongside incumbent Republican Steve Scalise, Democrat Lauren Jewett and E. Liddy Glass, who has no party affiliation.5 He supports congressional term limits, expanded oil and gas production and faster disaster assistance, while opposing carbon capture projects.5 He also promises constituents direct access through his personal phone, describing accessibility as part of the job.1
