Rhett Marques

Marques met his wife, Christina, at the University of Alabama.

Biography

Rhett Marques's working life has included more than a quarter century running a tire and automotive service business in Enterprise with his wife, Christina.1 They met at the University of Alabama and raised two daughters in the Wiregrass, while Marques owned and managed Goodson Tire & Auto.12

His earlier roots are on Alabama's coast: he grew up in Spanish Fort, graduated from Fairhope High School in 1990 and earned a marketing degree at Alabama in 1994.2 Elected to the Alabama House in 2018, he has represented District 91 and served as vice chair of its Commerce and Small Business Committee, alongside assignments involving health and transportation.2

One concrete part of that record is his sponsorship of the 2024 expansion of Alabama's Move Over law, which added protection for maintenance, construction and survey vehicles and broadened coverage for wrecker services.3 Marques has called the highway safety legislation his proudest accomplishment as a legislator, pointing to its protection for roadside workers and first responders.4

His congressional campaign promises lower taxes, reduced business regulation, tighter immigration enforcement and greater attention to veterans' services; he also supports abortion restrictions and defunding Planned Parenthood.1 Marques is the Republican nominee challenging Democratic incumbent Shomari Figures on November 3, after Alabama changed its congressional map and primary calendar for the 2026 election.5
