Biography
Susie Lee started a paper route at eight while growing up as one of eight children in Canton, Ohio.1 Her father, a military veteran, worked in a steel plant, while her mother cared for the large household; Lee later combined scholarships, loans and jobs to put herself through Carnegie Mellon University.1
After moving to Las Vegas in 1993, she became the founding director of After-School All-Stars, an organization providing activities and support for students outside school hours.1 She later led Communities In Schools of Nevada, working on dropout prevention and helping students remain engaged in education before her election to Congress.1
Lee is a mother of two.2 She entered the House in 2019 after her nonprofit career.3 Her congressional agenda includes drought response, veterans' benefits, bringing supply chains back to the United States and lowering prescription costs, with her campaign emphasizing work across party lines.1
She supports federal legislation protecting abortion rights and argues that reproductive medical decisions should remain with patients rather than politicians.1 Lee faces Republican composer and business founder Marty O'Donnell and Independent American Party candidate Jon Kamerath in the Third District.4

September 2021 Review-Journal reporting, drawing on Insider's analysis, said roughly 200 trades were reported after the statutory deadline, most within the House's filing fee grace period.5 Lee's office said a third party manager made the trades without her input and that she worked with an adviser and House Ethics to file once informed.5 FACT subsequently requested an Office of Congressional Ethics investigation.6 This review did not verify a final public committee disposition or an official finding of insider trading.
