Tanya Lloyd

Tanya Lloyd grew up on a 45 acre farm outside Lockhart, in a house her family built themselves.¹ Both parents were educators, and her grandmother was a civil rights activist.¹ Her own family includes a husband and daughter, and her career eventually took her into the classroom too.¹

Before teaching, Lloyd worked in car dealerships, accounting and real estate.¹ She returned to college at 33, earned an education degree and became a teacher in Lockhart ISD.¹² Her campaign describes nearly two decades in public schools, including work with children in schools serving families with limited incomes.¹

Her community work has included helping found the Lockhart FFA Booster Club, managing a 4-H club and serving on school district bond oversight and advisory committees.¹ She has also coordinated an elementary school Lego club and science and technology events, taught Sunday school and helped with scholarship committees.¹

Lloyd advocates a single payer health system, reproductive rights and investment in rural infrastructure.¹ Her platform also supports living wages, universal child care, public school funding and agricultural conservation.² She wants agricultural policy to require agribusiness to pay farmers fair prices for their products.² She faces Republican incumbent Michael Cloud again after their 2024 contest, with Wayne Raasch certified as a declared write in candidate.³⁴
