Green's life includes medical laboratories, RV road trips and crocheted blankets for her grandchildren.
Biography
Terri Yarbrough Green likes RV trips, the Grand Canyon and making crocheted blankets for her six grandchildren.1 A retired physician, mother and stepmother, she also shares her home with three rescue dogs and a cat.1 She was born in El Paso and adopted by a World War II Navy veteran and his wife.1
Green initially planned a legal career after graduating from Baylor, then changed direction and earned a medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.2 She became a pathologist and moved to northeast Arkansas in 1988.2
Her work included serving rural hospitals as a pathologist and laboratory medical director, alongside nurses, administrators and laboratory technologists.1 After retiring, she expected to travel more, but decided to enter politics when she saw no Democrat challenging the incumbent.2 She has not previously held elected office.2 Her platform also calls for investment in roads, bridges, broadband, public schools and utilities that support rural communities.1
Green supports restoring enhanced Affordable Care Act insurance assistance and moving toward universal healthcare.3 She also wants Congress to reclaim war powers and tariff authority, arguing that the Iran conflict and broad tariffs raise costs for households and farmers.3 She faces Republican Rick Crawford and Libertarian Steve Parsons.4
