Tom Tiffany
Tiffany and his wife, Chris, once ran an excursion boat business in northern Wisconsin.
Biography
Tom Tiffany’s early chores included milking cows and feeding calves on his family’s dairy farm in western Wisconsin.1 He attended public schools and worked his way through the University of Wisconsin River Falls before going into business.1 He and his wife, Chris, operated Wilderness Cruises in the Northwoods for two decades and raised three daughters.1
For 29 years, Tiffany also worked as the dam tender on the Willow Flowage, a job that earned him the nickname “dam man.”1 His political career began in Little Rice town government before taking him to the state Legislature and Congress.1 He won a special election to the House in May 2020 after serving in both chambers of Wisconsin’s Legislature.2
In Washington, he chairs the House Federal Lands Subcommittee, whose responsibilities include national parks, national forests, public lands and monuments.3 He also serves on the Judiciary Committee, including panels addressing immigration and federal surveillance.4 In January 2021, he voted to sustain the objection to Pennsylvania’s electoral votes.5
Against Democrat David Crowley, Tiffany proposes a 10% income tax cut for working families earning under $150,000, ending state taxes on tips and overtime, and returning the state surplus.6 The race pits that tax reduction agenda against Crowley’s proposed spending on health coverage, schools and child care.76
